Mulund, Mumbai · Master Bedroom · 2024
Aalya is a master bedroom designed for Pooja Kapoor in Mulund, Mumbai — a space that celebrates the quiet power of restraint. Every element was carefully chosen to balance contemporary minimalism with warmth, creating a room that feels both curated and deeply personal.
The defining feature is the hand-painted wardrobe finished in PU — its cream body adorned with delicate red floral motifs that transform a functional storage piece into the room's centrepiece. A terracotta accent wall behind the bed grounds the space with warmth, while lush indoor plants breathe life and freshness into the composition.
"The hand-painted wardrobe was the soul of this project — turning a functional object into a work of art that the client would wake up to every single day."
A live-edge wood side table with hairpin legs sits beside the bed, balancing craftsmanship with industrial lightness. Sheer linen curtains filter the natural light beautifully, while a vintage gold-frame floor mirror and artful wall decor complete the narrative — considered, calm, and full of character.
Aalya was an exploration in the art of doing less — and doing it beautifully. When Pooja approached us, she wanted a bedroom that felt personal yet timeless, contemporary yet warm. The answer was in restraint: a curated palette of terracotta, cream, and sage green, anchored by the hand-painted wardrobe that became the room's quiet showpiece.
The peach-toned half-wall acts as an organic headboard — a clever trick that gives the room structure and warmth without any built furniture. Large-leafed Bird of Paradise plants bring in vertical drama and natural life, softening the clean lines and making the room breathe. The live-edge table and vintage mirror add layers of texture and character.
This project is proof that thoughtful bedroom design doesn't require a large budget — it requires a clear vision, the right materials, and the craft to bring them together.
